Connex One is proud to celebrate the achievements of the Northern technology community following this year’s Northern Tech Awards in Edinburgh, presented by GP Bullhound. The annual awards recognise and celebrate the digital businesses and entrepreneurs driving innovation and growth across the North of England, Scotland and Ireland.

This year’s event highlighted the companies leading the digital economy of the North, with awards honouring outstanding founders, leaders and fast-growing businesses making an impact both regionally and globally.

A panel of distinguished judges selected this year’s winners, including Sherry Coutu CBE, Chair of Founders4Schools; Jacqui Ferguson, Director at Wood Group; and Melinda Matthews, CEO of CodeClan. They joined returning judges such as David Rowan, Founding Editor of Wired UK.

Hugh Campbell, Managing Partner of GP Bullhound, added: “We have seen the Northern region’s technology sector grow extensively as local businesses scale to reach global markets. Companies such as Peak AI and Sykes demonstrate the North’s potential to produce international tech leaders. We expect to see many more regional innovators thrive on the world stage.”

Presented by GP Bullhound, the Northern Tech Awards 2018 were hosted as a not-for-profit event with support from sponsors including Barclays, Squire Patton Boggs, OBI Property, Scottish Equity Partners, Aquiline, Frazer John Recruitment, Mercia Technologies, Berenberg, Inflexion, Tech North, BGF, the London Stock Exchange, Draw Code and Seven Hills.
